Story

A collaboration with my bud Rex Houser who wrote and sang a moving song about his Father’s passing....Anthony Occhipinti played drums. I produced, wrote the bridge, and performed the remaining instruments / harmonies. Fun collaboration and an outstanding first song by the good Dr Rex Houser saluting Big Jim, the one and only, and original, Dr Jim Houser...a great man!

Lyrics

Earnestly Lived Life
I rubbed your hair
I watched you die
After you steeled your constitution
To say your goodbyes
Your favorite poems
Your old buck knife
These are the remnants
Of an earnestly lived life
Worked your fingers to the bone
But still found the time to sing
Never focused your mind’s eye
On all the shiny things
Never leave the barn door open
Back your brothers in a fight
These are the remnants
Of an earnestly lived life
You had your scars
Took God to task
For his betrayals as you saw them
Keeping notches on your flask
Secrets you shared
Thrown like a dart
To those that you held close
Etched upon on their hearts
Don’t spend your whole life chasing
The glitter and the gold
Be the steady plotting one
Keep your family in the fold
Appreciate the simple things
And of your brothers don’t lose sight
These are the remnants
Of an earnestly lived life
Lead
Alone in the dark
Whiskey on ice
Charging up your soul
On troubadours by night
Worked your fingers to the bone
But still found the time to sing
Never focused your mind’s eye
On all the shiny things
Never leave the barn door open
Back your brothers in a fight
These are the remnants
Of an earnestly lived life
Four molded boys
A dutiful wife
These are the remnants
Of an earnestly lived life...

Lyrics

MayDay!

Hey….Is it time to go?

As if the time could not run any faster

Is it time to go?

Things that come undone

Is it time to go?

Hey….now is it time to see?

With all those angry digital distractions.

Is It time to be?

Things that come undone

Is it time to leave?

May, my heart beats faster

Day, what am I after

Crawling, no one moves faster

Falling, and soon here after

May, out goes the signal

Day, a precious signal.

Subtle, a vague transmission

Calling, a noble mission.

Hey, now Is it time to be?

As if you really could do something different

Is it time to see?

Things that come undone

Things that go undone

Things that come undone

Is it time to see?

Bridge:

How long, how long with the distraction

You must sit down right now, and do the work

Eternity, so say Blake and Pressfield

Is in love with the creations here in time

Leads:

May, out goes the signal

Day, a precious signal.

Subtle, a vague transmission

Calling, a noble mission.

You’ll see me down the road some

You’ll see me down the road

You’ll see me down the road some

I know, I know

Lyrics

“No One Calls Out for Pythagoras”

I’d like to present you some very strange math

It conveys just how much I care

10 pages or so of twists and curves

Please tell me it moves you there

Our essence reduced to an engine

Of hot steam and burning coal

Just look what our new tech can do for you

Now how can we effect this strange machine

We’ll pull on this,  insert into that

Consciousness reduced to  a block of cheese

It’s all in that big  hunk of cheese

They come back exclaiming there’s God

We tell them their oxygen’s low

Heaven’s just a hole in a chemical chart

Chorus

400 years of science, yes it freed the neighbor’s witch

But we’re crushing all the Spirit, the reasons we exist

Without the precious balance, we gonna dry up inside

Cause no one calls out  for Pythagoras when they die

Da da da

The greatest risk to my own health

is working in the modern health

Mechanics’ cars up on blocks

How did we get into this

Too much reliance on one tool

We’re cutting the person to fit

We cutting the person, to fit the coat

Chorus

Lyrics

No Tribe

Im talking bout No Tribe

Say No Tribe

No Tribe Ill ever be

Im Talking No Tribe

Im gonna join No Tribe

No Tribe

Yeah, They'll be no tribe for me

Cause that's where all the trouble begins

In thinking you're separate from me

Sign here

I don't think I want to sign here

Wont you Sign here

And you leave it all to me

Just sign here

I don't think I'm gonna sign here

Sign there

Yeah they'll never let you be

Cause that's where all the trouble begins

In thinking you're separate from me

Lao Tzu

Yeah I'm gonna do a Lao Tzu

Lao Tzu

Riding off and being free

Turn the tide

Yeah I think it's time to turn the tide

Man up,

The high cost of being free

Now I'm gonna find me a water buffalo

And we're gonna ride into eternity

According to Chinese legend, in 500 BC

The wise old sage Lao Tzu

was the philosophical advisor to the emperor

But neither the emperor nor mankind

Had much interest in the ways of the perennial philosophy

So Lao Tsu discouraged by their apathy

Climbed atop a water buffalo and rode off into the desert

Never to be heard of again

He did however write down the IChing as he left

Riding out into eternity

Lyrics

"Francis and BeavUs"

Lighten up Francis

Settle down Beavus

Lighten up Francis

Settle down Beavus

Only Tall Paul really knows what it means

Lighten up Francis

Settle down Beavus

.

Now I’m feeling frantic

Better ask Julius

He took off his glasses

Now he can see us

Only Tall Paul really knows what It means

Lighten up Francis

Settle down Beavus

You want to go dancing

Better call a seebus

You want to go chancing

Nothing can please us

Only Tall Paul really knows what it means

Lighten up Francis

Setlle down Beavus

Now’s the fun part

Explain away this mess

Nothing to confess

Time on line now

Rare connectedness

.

G# bridge

.

Lighten up Francis

Settle down Beavus

Lighten up Francis

Settle down Beavus

Only Tall Paul really knows what it means

Now’s the fun part

Explain away this mess

Nothing to confess

I’m on line now

Disconnectedness

Lyrics

“Thru the Veil”

Don’t you tell me bout the time to come

All this preparing for a time to come, come on

Don’t want to hear about the race you run

Don’t want to hear about the things you won, come on

Well the time has come, and you don’t know what you think of me

The time has come, and you don’t know what you think of me

Lets try not to think of me

More, More

More, More

Now your thinking bout the things you’ve done

We all think about the things we’ve done, come on

U can only live 1 at once

U have to chose your life, who's to say which one, which one

chorus

Let me tell you bout the time to come

There’s no time in the time to come, come on

 My fascination with the NDE

10 million peaking through the veil to see, come on

Well the time has come and you don’t know what you think of me

The time has come Well i know what i think of me

I’m looking thru the veil to see

More, More

More, More

Lyrics

The Progress

We will see tomorrow
We will see tomorrow
What escapes us here today

We don't have to borrow
There's no need to borrow
What is deep within us anyway

The not so far and few, the gifted ones
In every culture, under every sun

U don't have to follow
U don't have to follow
What is not of the way, anyway

Liivng on a rock in 9/8
Living on a rock, here through space
Why do i suspect we chose this time and place

The Progress is enough
The Progress is enough
It's the same in every age

The not so few, We're all gifted ones
In every culture, under every sun
We must become, what we can become

Lyrics

Fatal Flaw

Way down on the swampy leg, of chromosome number 4
There’s a Crick deep down in the strands, that i stood before
A twisted, malshalpen ugly, darkened fleshy spot
Tightly tied this bad allele, a tortured twisted knot
There i stood before…and i saw

The fishes, and the birds, the bees, the deer, the antelope
all shift and turn on a dime, dodging hungry foe
moving all at once, en masse, they stay so tightly packed
Standing out, in this game will surely get you whacked
Burdened by this law…

A fatal flaw, a fatal flaw
The shock and awe, The fatal flaw
But in the Monkey, this is so much more
Politics and Dogma and War
We just can't seem to let each other be
You must live your life just like me
Burdened, red and raw...

A fatal flaw, a fatal flaw
We'll make it law, The fatal flaw

And Here We stand upon the edge of flight
Trying to rise with all our might...

Lyrics

Socrates and Jesus

Another day out in the Athens heat
Just walking around, questioning everything
A noble service to the souls of the youth, and your entertainment too

You’ve got a method that can set us free
Teach us to reason, rid us of angry gods
Superstitions and the things that we fear, this won’t come easily

You see things aren’t going well
We spread ourselves too thin
They’ll need someone to blame
Much to their chagrin
now we can begin

Another day out in the middle of east
Walking around, questioning everything
In between your days of carpentry, think of tales to tell

You’ve got some stories that will set us free
Teach us to love, rid of us of angry gods
A loving Abba and the will to forgive, this won’t come easily

You see things aren’t going well
We’re trying to fit in
They’ll need someone to blame
But to their chagrin
now we can begin

What’s all the art for?
Bend Aristotle’s ear
Whats all the art for?
To make the truth more clear

Whats all the art for?
They say it's all so near
Whats all the art for?
To help us make it here

Another day out in the ancient heat
Walking around, questioning everything
A new sound for the souls of the youth, the start of something big
